Being the new kid sucked big time. But being the new kid at some huge and fancy boarding sucked even more. Seriously, the place looked like it was it's own planet and had a million towns inside of it. And a lot of the people Yosuke had saw were different. Some were nice and some were not so nice. He had only been at Ouran for about a day and he already wasn't liking it.
At this moment Yosuke felt like little Alice, lost inside of Wonderland, with nobody to help him out. Or a rat that was placed inside of a labyrinth that was looking for a piece of cheese. Running his fingers through his dark hair, he was about ready to quit and ask if he could be transferred to another school that was like it's own planet.
Now Yosuke was use to walking everywhere he went. But man the place was so huge, that his legs ere actually starting to hurt a little. At least he was outside in the night and sunny weather. So why not sit down and take a breather? They surely wouldn't yell at him for that, right? Finding a bench to sit down, Yosuke loosened his tie and decided to take in his surroundings for once.
Last time he looked around he was in a library, but now Yosuke was outside. At a courtyard. Wow, he must of ran to get there or he actually didn't pay attention as he walked along.

This has to be my favorite hour of the day. It was time for Haruhi’s free hour , the one referred to by the school as “Study Hall”, not that anyone here at Ouran really used their free period to study. It was just another abnormality in her school life that Haruhi had to overcome when she started at her “new school”. Ouran wasn’t that new to her anymore but sometimes she still felt out of place. Still she couldn’t deny that she had changed over time, if only ever so slightly. In the beginning she worked her tail of while everyone else seemed to have fun, but now-a-days she allowed herself some more free time. The idea came to her in a dream, one where Ouran was suddenly a twisted version of Wonderland. When she got to the end she found her mother and father, and it was her mother that informed her that it was okay to take it easy every once in a while. More often then not Haruhi would still use her free hour to study, but some days she did what her mother suggested and just allowed herself some personal time.
Today she chose to wander the courtyard in search of a quiet place to get some fresh air, away from her peers. Wandering off of the beaten path Haruhi was getting closer to her idea of “alone”. But before she got there, something, or someone rather caught her attention. It was a male student sitting on a bench, really nothing out of the ordinary. Still...his face looks so familiar...then again he has an eyepatch. Part of her thought she knew the student, the other was convinced it was just trick of the sunlight. All the same she waltzed over to the young man curious as to why she was so draw to him. “Hey there, mind if I join you for a little bit?” Figuring it best to start off on a friendly foot she added a small smile, hoping it would help ease any potential awkwardness.

Leaning back on the bench, Yosuke let out a small yawn. With all of the sun's rays hitting him, it was slowly starting to make the boy rather sleepy. And he probably would fallen asleep if somebody hadn't spoken to him and interrupted his sleepy thoughts. Opening his free eye, Yosuke stared at a very feminine looking boy. But hey, it wasn't his right to judge if the boy wanted to look like a girl. Everybody had something odd about them.
Hearing the boy's question, Yosuke nodded his head. "Yeah sure, go ahead." he said with a yawn and stretched some. The first he met was some guy. Oh well, he wasn't going to complain. Lifting up his eye patch a little, Yosuke carefully scratched his eye a little. He had a nice scar there and a lot of times it itched like crazy.
Looking over, Yosuke had no idea what year the kid was in Hell he could have been in his third year and he wouldn't have been able to tell. Scratching behind his neck, Yosuke looked around, trying to find a way to cut the awkward that hung in the air in half.
"I just transferred here." Yosuke decided to blurt out. It would start a conversation at least. "I somehow ended up here. Last thing I remember was being near the library and then poof. Outside" he said with a chuckle.

Having received the okay to sit down, Haruhi did just that.Rasing her dark brown eyes to the seemingly endless blue sky she was surprised to see a few scattered white clouds. Their pace was by no means hurried, which really set a mood of sorts for her to just relax. In a matter of seconds she had gotten so comfortable with her surroundings that she forgot all about having taken the company of a fellow student. Lucky for her, he didn’t come off as the shy type, quite the opposite in fact. So he is new here. She could never be sure, as it was impossible to keep track of every student at Ouran, even more so now then ever do to the night class. “Yeah this school it good for that, I can’t even remember how many time I got lost my first semester, but it gets better.” Finally taking her gaze off of the sky, the brunette looked to her company, still not completely clear as to why he looked so familiar.
“By the way, my name is Haruhi Fujioka. May I ask you yours?” Typically she would have worded her question differently, and in a much less formal manner. But if there was one thing she had learned in her time here at this school, it was that the Host Club could be lurking. Just about the time that she would get comfortable with the idea of being alone one of them, or two if it were the twins, would show up. To be honest she didn’t mind it all the time, but every so often she wondered why it was so important to keep tabs on her every where she went.

Yosuke nodded when the little boy next to him also agreed that he too in fact got lost often. Now he didn't feel so bad about it. But he was also just transferred and didn't go to Ouran's elementary or middle school. Oh well, those were details nobody really needed to know anyway.
Hearing the boy say his name, Yosuke raised an eyebrow. Haruhi Fujioka. 'Odd, my best friend from middle had that exact name' he thought to himself. Maybe it was just a very common name or something. Or maybe he just heard the boy wrong. That happened from time to time. So Yosuke decided to just play along with it.
Sitting up, Yosuke gave the boy a smile and held out his hand. "Well it is nice to meet you. You're the first person to actually be nice to me around here." he said with a slight chuckle. "My name is Yosuke. Yosuke Sato."

"That's it!" in that moment Haurhi had an apiffany so great that it even caused her to react with a physical gesture. Gently placing her fist into the open palm of her other hand, the brunette turned her torso in the general direction of her company who she now knew to be an old friend of hers from middle school. “I thought you looked familiar, although I must say that eye patch kind of threw me off....what happened anyway?" Without really stopping to think that maybe Yosuke didn't remember her, Haruhi just sort of went about being casual as she and he used to before he moved and she came to Ouran. “It isn't serious is it? Yosuke were you fighting again?" She recalled him having a temper, but nothing that would ever get him into any kind of trouble that he couldn't deal with. Part of her wanted to move the eye patch, but the other part was scared of what it might look like.

Yosuke blinked at the person in front of him. Surely this couldn't be the same Haruhi he knew from middle school. She had long hair then. This HAD to be some sort of joke or some prank. Staring at the person in front of him for a good ten minutes or so, Yosuke was about to jump out of his skin. "Haruhi what in the world happened?!" he asked, trying not to shout. "It looks like a weed-whacker attacked your head." he said and tugged at some of her brown hair.
Yosuke chuckled at her question of his eye patch. "Uh it depends on what you mean by serious Haruhi." he told her. His eye had healed, though he could not see out of it anymore, so he figured an eye patch would better. Removing the eye patch, he guessed she would want to see what had happened to his face, his money maker. His eye was now clouded over and a nice scar ran across it. "I'm blind in it, if that counts as serious." he said to her.
Having been use to wearing his eye patch, Yosuke felt odd with it being off his face. "Okay, you've seen enough of it" he mumbled and quickly placed his eye patch back on.

[/style] [atrb=border,0,true] A weed whacker huh? Well I'm sure Tamaki-Sempai would be broken hearted if he heard that one..given it was his stylist that did my hair. Unless of course he was too blinded by his agreement on the matter to remember that little fact. Heaving a small sigh Haruhi allowed Yosuke to examine her hair further before saying anything about it. “Well some little kid in my neighborhood got gum in it....I didn’t really have much of a choice. Besides that, I don’t mind it. It’s easier to take care of this way.” Taking a strand of it in between her own index finger and thumb she gave it a slight twist before allowing it to resettle. Not wanting her hair to be the focus of their reunion she was planning on changing the topic to something less superficial, but Yosuke started to answer the question about his eye that she had nearly forgotten about having asked.
The unsettling term “blind" didn't fully sink in until she was looking at the battered form that was left in the place of his once much healthier looking eye. It was hard to not feel sorry for him, but in this kind of situation, pity did nothing. Haruhi had learned that lesson soon after her mother’s death. And although it made her seem callous at times, inevitably it would become a simple truth to everyone else. Looking down to her hands, which were now folded in her lap, she asked in a quieter tone, “So what happened? You weren't being reckless were you?" It really made no difference anymore, but for some reason she felt like hearing the circumstances might make this less difficult to swallow. Looking to her friend once more, she smiled softly, hoping it would ease the slight edge on her previous tone of voice. The last thing she wanted, was to seem like she was babying him, trying to be his mother. But he was a good friend of hers and his troubles were hers as well.

"And that is why I don't speak to children in my neighborhood." Yosuke said to her. If that happened to him well there would be a different outcome aside from getting a haircut. The kid would probably be crying for about a week or so. "Besides, they're all a bunch of snot nosed brats." he said and leaned, folding his arms behind his head.
Yosuke frowned when Haruhi automatically asked if it was he who was being reckless. "Why do you always assume I start a fight? I only started like three or five in my life time." he told her. "Last week anyway" he added, obviously joking.
Sitting up and placing his hands in his lap, Yosuke let out a small sigh. "Well a while ago I was out having dinner alone, just trying to get use to that fact that my mom remarried." he began to explain. "And as I was leaving I saw some guys try to rob a girl, really low and pathetic stuff."
"So of course me being the only good guy around, I had to help her. It would be wrong if I just stood there and watched. I called them out, she got away and called the cops and then next thing I remember was getting my arse kicked. Like really bad."
"I was suppose to start here at the beginning but that would have been hard to do with a broken rib. But now, here I am. Alive and good as ever." he said with a smile. Connecting two and two together, Yosuke raised an eyebrow at Haruhi. "Now please explain to me how you got here and why you look like a boy."

[/style] [atrb=border,0,true] Really? He can't guess where my assumption came from? Haruhi's expression fell flat until Yosuke tagged on a last minute joke about his fight picking history. It was good to know that he had a sense of humor about the situation, but at the same time she wondered if he was truthfully okay with how things had unfolded. It was just like Yosuke to stick his neck out in the name of chivalry, that's one thing she could always agree with him on. The idea of him being the only “good guy" around drew up a memory of a certain trip to the beach that she and the Host Club had taken. One key difference was that she could have called for help, although she was unaware of this fact at the time. When it was Yosuke going to battle for the good of another, he really had no one. It spoke levels about what kind of person he was, and a little part of Haruhi wondered in that moment why such a horrible outcome had to rear it's ugly head for such a good guy.
Ironically, just as she allowed the thought of him being a good guy to pass her mind, he came out swinging with his less princely personality. “Well my memory isn't so good at the moment so I don't remember if you were around when I decided to take the scholarship exam, but I'm here for an education that I couldn't get anywhere else." Looking to the sky, Haruhi often let herself belive that her mom was watching her from Heaven. So to let her know that she was thinking of her, Haruhi looked back. One day soon I'll be successful like you Mom. After her sentimental moment had passed she looked back to Yosuke, not sure how much she was at liberty to divulge. “And as for why I look like a boy....well..." How did Kyoya-Sempai put it... She shuddered to relive that moment when he filled her in on the big picture, but in order to make this make sense for Yosuke, she had to bear it. “Lets just leave it at mitigating circumstances." Smiling nervously, Haruhi rubbed the back of her neck, hoping that he wouldn't have too many questions. The last thing she wanted was for Kyoya-Sempai to misconstrue her reasoning behind telling someone else about her situation. “Why are you here?" Pulling her act together she was hoping to doge a bullet by deflecting the topic onto his story.

"I remember you mentioned the exam all of the time. You kept rubbing it in my face practically." Yosuke said with a grin on his face, like of the Cheshire Cat almost. He had to leave around the time she was to actually take the exam. "Well congrats on obviously passing. We should celebrate sometime! Sushi on me." he offered. Hearing her reasoning for dressing like a boy, he gave a small nod. "Well if you're comfortable in it, then wear it." he said with a shrug of his shoulders.
When asked why he was at Ouran, Yosuke looked at Haruhi. "To learn. Duh." he said with a very obvious response. Yosuke grinned, figuring she would just get annoyed and ask him to clarify himself. "After my parents had a lovely divorce, I moved with my mom back to my grand parent's home. Went to school there for a little bit and then randomly one day my mom came home with a wedding ring on her finger and a man attached to her hip. 'Say hello to your new father' she said." he said with slight growl and groan combined together.
"She married some dude with the last name Awayuki. And that name sounded horrible on me, so I kept the last name I was born with."
